The Chair of language and Basque Culture of the University of Navarra and Etniker-Navarra organize the II Ethnography Meetings.
This edition will focus on the figure of the Basque language speaker and ethnographer José María Satrustegi from Navarre.
The Chair of language and Basque Culture of the University of Navarra and Etniker-Navarra have organized the II Ethnography Meetings. In this edition, the conferences, given at Spanish, will revolve around the figure of José María Satrustegi, euskaltzale and ethnographer from Navarre. The activity has the partnership of the Government of Navarre, will take place on Thursday, September 19, from 18h. to 21h., in Civican (Avenida Pio XII, 2). Open to all audiences, this initiative aims to pay tribute to the great scholar of the Basque language, promoter of numerous cultural initiatives and author of several works on customs, beliefs and behaviors of popular tradition.
During the first part of the workshop, and under the degree scroll "Perspectives on the ethnographic work of José María Satrustegi", the professors of the University of Navarra Jesús M. Usunáriz, Naiara Ardanaz-Iñarga and Ana Belén Martínez will talk about the most important subjects of study of the euskaltzale, such as the figure of the Olentzero or the popular romances and coplas.
This will be followed by a roundtable on Satrustegi's cultural initiatives, at position by experts David Mariezkurrena, director of the journal "Cuadernos de Etnología y Etnografía de Navarra"; Andrés Íñigo, delegate of Euskaltzaindia in Navarra; and Anton Erkoreka, director of the Basque Museum of the History of Medicine, UPV-EHU.
The workshop will be closed with the intervention of the singer-songwriter from Oñati, Ruper Ordorika, who will interpret several Navarrese coplas.
