The department of Food Science and Physiology is an inter-faculty department attached to the School of Pharmacy and Nutrition.

The research activity of department is related to three main areas. One of them is focused on Molecular Nutrition, Nutrigenomics and Personalised Nutrition, which mainly studies the mechanisms involved in the development of obesity and related metabolic and nutritional alterations. A second area of research is related to Functional Foods and Food Safety, whose main goal is to achieve healthier and safer foods, designed to contribute to reduce the prevalence of chronic non-communicable diseases, and a third area that analyses the quality of per diem expenses and other dietary and nutritional aspects in studies of Nutritional Epidemiology in both paediatric and adult populations. The department also participates in the Sports Talent programme of the University of Navarra, providing personalised dietary advice to its athletes.

The department teaches subjects in:
- Degrees of Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Nursing, Chemistry and Medicine.
- European Master in Nutrition and Metabolism (E-MENU)
- Master in Research, development and Innovation of Medicines
- doctoral program "Food, Physiology and Health".
