desplegable-intro

Since its foundation in 1952, the University of Navarra has shown a clear interest in being present in all fields of knowledge and in contributing to the national and international academic community as many quality research as possible. The fields of Education and Psychology are no exception to this interest.

From the birth of the programs of study , the first licentiate degree reports began to be written, and the first thesis doctoral defences began to be defended. Shortly afterwards, the programs of study of doctorate began, which have been adapted to the provisions of general legislation.

The long history of awarding doctoral degrees, the research vocation, which is found in the founding instructions of the University and is continued by the current team of lecturers, the issue of thesis of doctoral degrees defended and publications derived from them, as well as those initiated within the current doctoral program at Education are more than enough reasons to justify the need for it.

The doctoral program in Education and Psychology that we intend to verify has its origin in the creation of the Section of Sciences of the Education, integrated in the School of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Navarra, which was created in 1975. From the beginning of the School and its various specialties, the professors made a special effort to initiate students in the tasks of research and the first thesis were elaborated and defended.

Since then, programs of study has adapted to the provisions of general legislation, both in the General Law of Education (1970) and in the Organic Law on University Reform (1983). Under the new regime of Royal Decrees 56/2005 and 1393/2007, research activity continued, and also under the current regime (RD 99/2011) with its subsequent modifications. thesis Over the course of such a long career, more than 100 doctoral theses have been defended, 26 of which have been defended in the last 5 years.

Initially, the professor and research unit to which the programme was attached was the Science Section of Education, created in 1975. After the reorganisation of the School of Philosophy and Letters, department of Education was the academic unit that developed the programme. However, in September 2014, as a result of the creation of new Degrees -specifically, Teacher Training in Education Primary Education and Teacher Training in Education Infant Education (academic year 2009-2010) and Psychology (academic year 2013-2014)-, the current School of Education and Psychology was created and the programs of study became part of it.

Consequently, although the current doctoral program was verified on 8 January 2013 (BOE, 96 of 22 April 2013), a new School was subsequently created, which includes programs of study in Psychology. It is therefore necessary to adapt it to accommodate the lines of research developed by the new professors who have joined it. In this way, the doctoral program at Education has been extinguished and replaced by this new doctoral program.

The integration of doctoral program in the strategy research and development+I of the University of Navarra is materialized in the close links that the Program maintains with various Institutes, Projects and Lines of research. This is the case, for example, of the Institute for Culture and Societyin which the participation of PhDs and doctoral students is very active and abundant.

The lines of research of doctoral program are also integrated in the Map of research prepared by the University of Navarra. Specifically, it is related to three axes of research: 5.2. Education and Public Communication; 5.3. Emotional culture and identity; y 5.4. Health, Education and society.

Likewise, the doctoral program is related to the Masters offered by the School of Education and Psychology: the Master's Degree University in academic staffthe Master's Degree University Degree in Educational and Psychological Interventionthe Master's Degree University Degree in General Health Psychology and the Master's Degree University Degree in Marriage and Family.

The University of Navarra has implemented the School of doctorate in the framework established by RD 99/2011, as a planning, coordination and monitoring body for the doctorate programs. It is chaired by the Vice President of research and has an Executive Director and three deputy directors representing the three major areas of the university: area of Social Sciences, Law and Humanities (to which this PD belongs), area of Experimental and Health Sciences and area of Engineering and Architecture. The School establishes the objectives and strategic lines of third cycle at the University and ensures their proper fulfillment.

It is expected that 40% of the new places will be taken up by full-time students full-time . While 60% of the students will be part-time, as most of them are foreign students, especially from partner universities, who complement their dedication to thesis with a professional work .

The doctoral program has signed agreements with several universities for the exchange of professors and students. The specific data can be found at the corresponding section . In the same section there is information on the mobility of the people involved in it, and the external researchers with whom it has had contact.
