Cooperation in the search for solutions
The Island Council of La Palma and the University of Navarra have signed an agreement partnership agreement in order to develop teaching activities, knowledge dissemination and research. This union will benefit both the academic community and society in general, promoting sustainable development , heritage conservation and cultural promotion of the island.
Teaching
SUMMER COURSE 'METAL CRAFTSMANSHIP'.
This was held in Santa Cruz de La Palma from June 24 to 28 (2024). Students from different courses of the Degrees of design and Architecture of the University of Navarra learned about the uses and applications of iron from local craftsman and expert in blacksmithing and forging Yoel Díaz Sánchez.
CT LAB SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE
The CT Labs have the goal to share academic solutions with the society to face, together with the City Councils, the challenges of the growth of cities and the contemporary human habitat. Therefore, the cities become a laboratory where students work and develop their proposals. These works are then exhibited publicly. The students of School of Architecture have already carried out three projects on the island of La Palma.
ACADEMIC TRIP OF DEGREE IN ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES
A group of students from Degree in Environmental Sciences made this year 23-24 a training trip to the Canary Islands, within the Landscapes Program. Among other things, in addition to La Palma, they visited the Garajonay National Park and Mount Teide.
COIL (COLLABORATIVE ONLINE INTERNATIONAL LEARNING): CAMPUS INTERUNIVERSITY IN LA PALMA
Architecture students from the University of Navarra will develop during 2025 proposals for a universitycampus in the municipality of El Paso (La Palma), intended to house academic extension courses in the area affected by the volcanic eruption of Cumbre Vieja in 2021. As a novelty, the academic exercise of this course will be carried out in COIL format jointly with 8 other universities in Latin America through the America Foruman initiative of the University of Navarra and the Pan-American Federation of Architects Associations(FPAA) to promote the research, training of professionals and relations between Latin American universities. Universities from Venezuela, Peru, Bolivia, Mexico, Costa Rica, Argentina and Guatemala are participating.
