Professional skills program: TU&CO
Explanation of TU&CO by Álvaro Lleó, professor at TECNUN.
The competencies and their development are the basis of this counseling program, which aims at having the person seeking improvement analyze his or her behavior in order to make a diagnosis of his or her competencies and suggest proposals for reflection and action.
Professor Pablo Cardona defines competencies as "those observable and habitual behaviors that make possible the success of a person in his activity or function. They are a result of the innate characteristics, knowledge, motivations, and skills of people."
Thus, the 12 most in-demand competencies are:
- Self-awareness
- Effort capacity
- Communication
- Emotional Balance
- management of conflicts
- Time management
- Social skills
- Initiative
- Integrity
- Optimism
- Decision-making
- work as a team
The present program begins with an initial assessment of the competencies (through a questionnaire) that will provide sufficient information for its later analysis together with the notebook of work. Once the competencies that need to be worked on have been diagnosed, we will move on to the section of Improvement Plans, in which each of the competencies is developed to facilitate the work of both advisor and student.
The first thing to do is to know how we see ourselves and how we are seen, and for this you have at your disposal a simple questionnaire with which you will generate your profile competence to know yourself better in all aspects. Once you have completed this assessment, your advisor will discuss the results with you to move on to the next phases of the program.
To make the assessment, request the questionnaires. If you are student, click on the button below to send an email requesting the questionnaires. You will be sent one test for yourself and three links for 3 people who know you well (a family member, someone from class and a lifelong friend, for example).
These questionnaires include 48 questions referring to critical behaviors that determine the Degree possession of the different competencies.
The answers will be used to elaborate your competency diagnosis or profile . To interpret it, go to the analysis section.
Once the profile competency is complete, it is time to take the next step: to start analyzing the results obtained. In what we are strong and in what we can fail; what can support us and what should be the object of our attention for improvement.
This step is core topic and that is why you have at your disposal a notebook of work that it is very convenient that you read before going to talk to advisor, since it will be your orientation to know where to go from here on.
In this section the competencies are developed one by one so that you can go deeper into them.
