Chair Sanitas Health and Environment
research
Conduct research projects on the relationship between health and the environment.
ONE HEALTH
Training on the One Health concept to professionals of the collaborating entities -Sanitas and University of Navarra-, as well as to new generations, through school and university programs.
HEALTH
Disseminate, communicate, and raise awareness about the close relationship between human health and ecosystem health.
TRANSFORM
Apply the knowledge generated to accelerate the transformation of the health sector and society.
The current alteration of ecosystems, environmental pollution, climate change, mobility, consumption and management of resources show that the health of the planet directly affects the well-being and health of people.
It is therefore necessary to promote and promote spaces of research and knowledge dissemination between the different areas of knowledge that contribute to the care of people and the environment. Health problems and challenges are today a global issue.
The "Chair Sanitas Health and Environment" will promote multidisciplinary and appliedresearch , as well as social awareness of the concept of One Health One Health concept introduced by the WHO, which addresses the connections between human health, animal health and the environment. It aims to establish, from scientific rigor, a series of evidence and recommendations to transform the environments in which we live into healthier spaces for people, with special focus on health environments to incorporate a net zero, sustainable and biophilic vision. It will then seek to extend its application to other urban environments.
For the realization of the Chair s research projects, different experts from the areas of health, architecture, natural sciences and data science of the University of Navarra will be involved, generating amultidisciplinary research , which integrally connects all the components of the concept. One Healthconcept: ecosystem health, animal health and human health. research projects and transformation of the health sector:
TRANSFORMING HEALTHCARE ENVIRONMENTS
The Chair will promote projects that will accelerate the transformation of the healthcare sector by providing recommendations and actions that can be implemented in SANITAS hospitals: architectural, nature-based or equipment solutions that will significantly increase the well-being of the people who live, visit or work in these centers, while also reducing energy consumption and the emission of pollutants (GHG).
GEMELO DIGITAL
Develop an innovative test model to test the findings generated by the Chairs research lines. This will be done through a digital twin that will allow simulating different scenarios to determine the success of the implementation of measures that improve health outcomes and patient experience and the impact on the environment in which the center is located.
The Chair contemplates a training and communication plan to raise awareness of the relationship between health and the environment, according to the WHO's One Health concept. The aim is to train new generations in this concept, making the scientific knowledge generated by the Chair available to the whole of society. Different communication actions of general impact are planned, as well as others aimed at three different target audiences: health center workers, primary and secondary school students and society in general. They are articulated around three fundamental axes:
GUIDES
The publication of guidelines and recommendations on the One Health concept.
knowledge dissemination
The knowledge dissemination of successful experiences in the development of sustainable, biophilic and One Health net zero design .
ACTIVITIES
The creation of participatory activities around the One Health concept: workshops for healthcare workers; workshops for primary and secondary school students; talks for companies given by Bioma experts to disseminate the Chair s findings and evidence on the One Health concept.
