What is this course about?
How is identity constructed when growing from the margins? This course offers a space for reflection and training for professionals who accompany young people in socially vulnerable status . Based on recent research, educational experiences and testimonies of young people, we will address how inequality, school failure or segregation impact on the construction of identity and opportunities for social inclusion.
During two conference, we will analyze the role of the school, support practices and the value of a positive social identity as a way to overcome exclusion processes. Based on the experiences and testimonies of young people and professionals, we will address how inequality, school failure or segregation have an impact on the construction of identity and opportunities for social inclusion. And concrete resources such as the theory of self-determination, resilience and life stories will be presented, in order to provide socio-educational staff with effective tools to intervene from an inclusive, humane and transformative perspective.
This course is aimed at professionals in the educational, social and psychological fields who wish to strengthen their intervention with youth at risk. If you work with youth in contexts of inequality and are looking for keys to promote processes of identity, participation and social justice, we are waiting for you.
