What is this course about?
Over the last decade, political and social polarization has increased globally and locally. The causes of this phenomenon, which prioritizes antagonism over agonism, are varied and diverse: social, political, economic, and demographic. In general, the feeling of dissatisfaction, frustration, disappointment, and report A historically violated and/or crisis-related situation has led to a radicalization of positions, an increase in confrontation and a loss of confidence in political parties, democratic institutions and, in some cases, in the welfare state (or its viability).
In this summer course the central cores of political and social polarization will be exposed, adopting a approach inter and multidisciplinary : 1) the philosophical understanding of an era marked by identity problems and antagonism, 2) the political analysis of the polarization of politics, 3) the sociological study of polarization of politics. report historical, 4) the critical review of illiberal attitudes and behaviors in the public administration , 5) the study from the point of view of human geography of the topics associated with demographic changes and immigration that are often used in some polarizing speeches, and 6) the investigation into the use of some polarization strategies used in the political communication of some Spanish political parties.
The course is developed around six sessions that culminate with a discussion at the end of each day, which will ensure respect for differences and encourage critical thinking. In addition to the exchange among the speakers, participation and the exhibition from the opinions of the people registered and/or attending the course.
