01 / WHAT IS CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING?
"Cross-country" skiing, also known as "Nordic" skiing, originated in Scandinavia as ameans of getting around on snowduring the long Nordic winters. It was around 1800 that skiing began to take on a sporting character.
It is considered one of themost well-rounded sports, as it works more than 90% of the body’s muscles. It is also consideredsustainable and environmentally friendly, since it does not use ski lifts as in other forms of skiing. It is practiced on flat trails or those with gentle slopes that are groomed with snow groomers.
You can go cross-country skiing at theLarra-Belagua resort, located in the Roncal Valley, in plenary session of the Executive Council the Navarrese Pyrenees. You can do so under the guidance of instructors from Roncal who are certified by the Spanish Ski School (TD2) and have extensive experience in cross-country ski teaching .
