The first manifestations of women's autobiographical writing, which emerged with European modernity from the sixteenth century onwards, are presented. Through different genres (diaries, letters, memoirs, etc.), literate women have been exposing their intimacy and/or their public actions, sometimes resorting to various strategies to circumvent social constrictions and at other times claiming their right to express themselves.

The course sample will examine the historical process of women's affirmation in the public sphere through their self-representation as writers. In addition, specialists in the subject and the presentation of outstanding autobiographical books published in the last two years will take part in the course.

Ana Iris Simón, Clara Obligado, Anna Caballé, Cristina Tabernero, Concepción Martínez Pasamar, Rocío Davis, Rosalía Baena and Pilar Sáiz will take part in the course.
