award Javier García de Jalón
The aim of these awards is to pay tribute to the figure of Professor Javier García de Jalón de la Lama, who died in 2025 after a long struggle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). He was an international reference in the field of Mechanical Engineering and teacher of generations of engineers at the University of Navarra. His academic, human and scientific bequest continues to inspire those who seek excellence in research, teaching and technological innovation.
Thanks to the generous contribution of a private donor, these awards are born with the vocation of recognizing talent and commitment to engineering, in the spirit of rigor, curiosity and service that characterized Professor García de Jalón throughout his life.
- Cum Laude in the doctoral program of Applied Engineering of Tecnun-University of Navarra is required.
- Points will be assigned according to the following merits:
- 1st author or 2nd author (when the first author is one of the thesis supervisors) in an article published or accepted in a JCR-Q1 journal: 10 points/publication.
- 1st author or 2nd author (when the first author is one of the thesis supervisors) in an article published or accepted in a JCR-Q2 journal: 8 points/publication.
- Patent: 8 points/patent
- doctorate with international accredited specialization : 5 points
- award at national level: 3 award
- award at international level: 5 award
- All merits submitted must fall within the period of registration of the doctoral thesis and their direct relation to the thesis must be justified.
- The candidate with the highest score will receive the award. In addition, one or more second prizes may be awarded, whose maximum issue will be determined according to the total issue of thesis defended that year.
