Conservation status of terrestrial vertebrates

The growing political and social awareness of biodiversity loss has led to the establishment by the United Nations of international conventions and platforms, such as the agreement on Biological Diversity or the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES).

In this context, a set of biodiversity indicators is available to evaluate the steps taken to achieve the objectives of sustainable development and biodiversity conservation, and which have been grouped into indicators based on territory, threats to biodiversity, species and other ecological and biogeographical indicators.

The present line of action aims to elaborate an integral analysis of the conservation status of the biodiversity of Spanish terrestrial vertebrates from a global perspective, and thus offer useful information for the development of national plans and policies from a general framework .
