Understand the structure and function of biomolecules, in particular complex macromolecules, the main metabolic pathways and their regulation, and the principles governing the exchange of subject and energy with the environment. Understand the organisation, dynamics and expression of genes and genomes, the laws of heredity and the sources of genetic variation.

To know the nature of the physical environment and to understand the interactions between organisms and their environment, or between organisms at the different levels of the ecological hierarchy: organism, population, community/ecosystem.
