In recent years, the progress of historical research on ancient times has shown how dependent it is on archaeological sources. Archaeological sources have proved to be the most dynamic in generating historical information. knowledgeand knowledge . From this point of view, the profile of the 21st century archaeologist is that of a professional with a broad historical, humanistic and not exclusively technical knowledge. In addition to the subjects with a load of 30 ECTS credit professor , in order to obtain the Diploma, students have to carry out compulsory activities throughout the four years: 30 hours a year of work in the Archaeology Workshop/laboratory (handling original archaeological material) and participate in two excavations involving a dedication of 75 hours each. In this sense, the University has signed collaboration agreements with important archaeological excavations in Spain and Europe.

Students have 36 ECTS credit of optional subjects at their disposal at Study program if they wish to introduce or deepen their knowledge in complementary areas of knowledge (Latin, Greek, cultural management, etc.) or in other different subjects.

The sequencing of the Study program of the Diploma in Archaeology ensures a solid training acquired, moreover, in a gradual manner, establishing the necessary knowledge to assume the skills and competences necessary for archaeological work. For this reason, it is from the summer of the second year when the student is able to make the most of the practical work in archaeological excavations.
