History of Opus Dei
Since the 1970s there has been no lack of bibliography on Opus Dei and even less references to this institution of the Catholic Church in works on the recent history of Spain, Latin America and the history of the Church and contemporary religious history. On more than a few occasions, polarisation has characterised the historiographical discussion on the subject. More than twenty years have passed since the Josemaría Escrivá Study Centre (University of Navarre), part of the St Josemaría Escrivá Historical Institute in Rome, began the task of tackling this history in an academic way.
The Centre organised a congress in June 2021 where the following topics were discussed in depth:
-
Historiography and methodologies.
-
Catholicism and women.
-
Catholic initiatives.
