MuseumLab
From the moment they arrive at the Museum, students are introduced to a practical learning programme that allows them to rotate through the different Departments of the University of Navarra Museum (dedication of a maximum of 5 hours per week). This teaching process is part of the subjects MuseoLab 1 and 2. A practical approach, with a vision of the organisation and internal processes of each of the areas of an Art Centre. It also allows for the participation of student in the daily life of the Museum: programming, exhibition assembly, budget control, monitoring of publications, etc.
Professional meetings
During the academic year, students visit several art centres and emblematic museums. These professional encounters allow them to discover and meet curators, artists and other professionals in the sector. Over the years, they have visited national cultural institutions such as: the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, Azkuna Centroa, ARTIUM, Chillida-Leku Museum, Centro Botín, Tabakalera, BilbaoArte, Bombas Gens, IVAM, Todoli Citrus Fundació, Matadero Madrid, MACBA, CCCB Barcleona, "La Caixa" Collection, Museo de Navarra, Museo Fundación Jorge Oteiza, among others. Also spaces such as Fluent, the Green Parrot, Polls or artists' studios such as Daniel Canogar's and Rosell Meseguer's.
From theory to practice
The exhibition The Rest was the selected project of the I promotion Master's Degree in programs of study of Curatorship. The four young curators - Marina Alonso, Pau Cassany, Sofía Enríquez and Dailey Fernández - promoted a collective sample , with works by Irma Álvarez-Laviada, Miren Doiz, Esther Gatón, Guillermo Mora and Wilfredo Prieto. A reflection on the creative process and the genesis of the work of art, showing workshop leftovers, failed experiments, collateral effects... rather than final objects intended to be consumed as products.
Entorno meeting Exploration is the second exhibition selected from the proposals for the Master's Thesis. The curators, from the II promotion of the Master's Degree, Equipo Sobremesa - Renata Alvarez, Manuel Gamaza and María Angélica Moreno - proposed a participatory project that invited to explore, to relearn, to make a journey from the particular to the universal, from the circumstantial to the emotional. The exhibition included workshops and conferences, on-site and online tours, as well as digital channels through which the public shared their perceptions and enriched the project.
Intermedia is the third exhibition selected from the proposals of work de Fin de Master's Degree. The curators Maite Fraile, Laura Aizcorbe and Dayneris Brito, graduates of the 2020-2021 course, propose a project that plays with the relationship between image and word and that starts with the works donated by Patricia Phelps de Cisneros to the Museum in 2018 and their dialogue with the rest of the pieces that make up the MUN Collection. It is not a photographic sample accompanied by literary work but a exhibition in which both disciplines have equal prominence. Related activities are scheduled around the sample , such as a masterclass with an artist, professional workshops on writing and photography, a children's workshop and guided tours.
Support and guidance
The management committee of the master's degree is available at student to resolve any academic difficulties or management assistant that may arise during the course. At the beginning of the course, management committee assigns each student a tutor , which may or may not coincide with the lecturer in charge of supervising the final project. This professor will be the academic advisor throughout the programme.
Personalised academic counselling goal aims to improve the academic performance of student, facilitate their integration into university life and collaborate in the cultural, human and professional training of each student. Among other aspects, tutor advises on the methodology of intellectual work, another subject of training activities offered by the University (social, cultural, sporting activities, etc.), and provides guidance on the decision of the professional future of student (PhD, internships, employment).
