Journalistic quality and plurality: keys to news trust in the age of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

The Digital News Report Spain 2024 delves into the perception that Spaniards have of the use of artificial intelligence in journalism. It also analyzes which are the most demanded informative functions by citizens and their Degree satisfaction with the thematic offer of the media. Finally, it asks what criteria audiences have in mind when assessing the credibility of the news and studies for the first time the Degree of trust they have in the main social networks as news channels. 

In these uncertain times, data shows the need for quality, independent and pluralistic journalism, capable of overcoming distrust and disinterest in the news and combating hoaxes. The overabundance of content, the absence of verification mechanisms, anonymity and the rapid viralization of messages - genuine or false - have consequences not only for news companies, but also for society as a whole.

Artificial intelligence, trust, information evasion, payment for news, sources, formats... These are some of the topics analyzed in the Digital News Report Spain 2024.
