Journalism faces the challenges of trust and interest in the face of new benchmarks

The Digital News Report Spain 2023 offers a detailed view of news consumption in Spain, revealing a dynamic and fragmented landscape with mixed trends. The report, conducted by researchers at the University of Navarra and commissioned by the Reuters Institute, is based on 2,031 representative surveys of people over the age of 18.

The report reflects a news environment in Spain characterized by declining interest and trust in news, fragmented consumption and B news avoidance. Despite these challenges, opportunities are seen in increased trust in local and regional brands, as well as in the growth of paid digital news and the consumption of news podcasts and videos.
