Reconnecting with news audiences

The Digital News Report Spain 2022 offers a comprehensive analysis of news consumption trends and habits in Spain, conducted by the University of Navarra at partnership with the Reuters Institute at the University of Oxford. This report is based on surveys of 2,028 adult Spanish Internet users and addresses several aspects core topic of the current news landscape.

This year's report highlights a B drop in interest and trust in the news: only 55% are very interested and 39% are skeptical. Thirty-five percent actively avoid the news due to distrust and fatigue. Television remains the primary source for information, although mobile consumption is high and digital subscriptions have increased. Concern about misinformation is high (62%) and the perception of media independence is leave. In addition, the consumption of news podcasts and videos continues to grow, with local news as the most valued. Despite these challenges, local news remains relevant and digital platforms continue to gain ground.
