Journalism and democracy: trust, community and innovative narratives

The Digital News Report Spain 2025 explores the democratic role of the media in an information age marked by misinformation and fragmented consumption. It also analyzes citizens’ news consumption habits and the Degree credibility associated with different media channels, as well as the trend toward news avoidance. Finally, it examines the emergence of artificial intelligence and social media in multi-screen, personalized, and polarized news consumption.

In a scenario of weakening of the media by politicians, the democratic function of the media in the consumption of information by citizens is evident.

Social networks, democratic responsibility, payment for news, sources, disinformation, Artificial Intelligence, the value of local or regional information... These are some of the topics analyzed in the Digital News Report Spain 2025.
