Do you consider it important to focus on the fight against plastic pollution?

Yes, it is an emerging topic that is yielding very worrying data on its impact on human and wildlife health. It is disturbing not to know the true extent of the problem.
 

How can this problem be addressed from your research area ?

In some agricultural production systems, a large amount of plastic waste is produced. These are, plastics for greenhouse coverings, drip irrigation systems, etc. These plastics undergo degradation while in use, releasing plastic particles.
 

Are you participating in any project related to this issue? Tell us briefly! If not, what project or idea would you like to implement to tackle plastic pollution from your discipline?

Our research is closely linked to avoiding, as far as possible, the transition from rainfed to irrigated land that all summer crops in Spain are suffering. We try to avoid the use of plastics by improving the water use efficiency of agricultural production systems.
