At the origin... the Universe
At the origin... the Universe
Session organized by the Society and Environmental Culture Unit from BIOMA Institute that seeks how to to enrich the presence of science and earth care in culture that we offer from the University. To this end, professors from the School of Science will give monthly sessions on a variety of topics to present their own scientific activity, with their perspective, methods and advances.
The main and indispensable way to achieve this is already underway: it is the scientific activity itself, with its gaze, methods and advances. We also believe that we can present the wonders and challenges that we study scientifically to a wider public, perhaps somewhat alien to experimental science, but sensitive to the beauty of the world we study and its calls. To promote this goal, some sessionshave been organized position professors of the School who will try to present the wonders of their field of study following the thread of the various natural sciences.
We will try to ensure that its format, informative and dialogued, incorporates a humanistic and hopefulapproach , showing the beauty of the world in which we live and thus nurturing admiration and the desire to live taking care of it. We would love to have the active participation of students, employees, teachers and whoever you would like to invite. With this participation, we could refine the promotion of science and the environment in culture and society, both within the University itself, as well as outside of it.
Perhaps the development of these presentations and the dialogue they generate will provide us with experience and ideas to prepare the future knowledge dissemination from BIOMA. The sessions will take place monthly until the end of the course, with the intention of resuming them next year. They will be preceded by a coffee break, followed by a brief presentation of about 20-25 minutes that will hopefully generate an exchange of questions and ideas on each topic.
The first session will be position by Dr. Javier Burguete and will be degree scroll "At the origin... the Universe". It will be held on Tuesday, February 11 at 11.00 in the Science auditorium and will be preceded at 10.45 by a coffee offered by the School on floor 0 of the Hexagon Building.
