From agreement with the concordat and canonical rules and regulations , the Organic Law 2/2006, of 3 May, of Education and the Royal Decree 696/2007, of 1 June, which regulates the employment relationship of Religion Teachers, in order to be appointed as a Catholic religion teacher by the corresponding Educational Administration, the following requirements and conditions must be met: 

  • By agreement of the LXXXIX Plenary Assembly of the Spanish Episcopal lecture of 27 April 2007, it is necessary to have obtained the Ecclesiastical Declaration of skill Academic (DECA), issued by the Episcopal Commission of teaching and catechesis.

    To obtain the Ecclesiastical Declaration of skill Academic the applicant must be in possession of the corresponding academic qualifications, and, in addition, meet the following requirements:

    • Baptismal certificate, with a date of issue of less than 6 months, at the time of its presentation. A baptismal certificate is considered to be legalised if it bears the seal of the parish where the sacrament took place, as well as the seal of the diocese to which the parish belongs, in addition to the parish priest's signature and the seal of the parish where the sacrament took place.

    • For Education Infant and Education Primary 300 minimum teaching hours. The contents of the hours that are increased in relation to the previous regulation (120), will be covered by the programme of the three current courses of "training Complementary".

  • The Episcopal Commission of teaching and catechesis may establish the appropriate validations.

    The Ecclesiastical Declaration of Suitability, until now in force, granted to Catholic religion teachers, is understood as Ecclesiastical Declaration of Academic skill .

    This agreement of the Episcopal lecture will come into force at the beginning of the school year 2007/08.

  • Ecclesiastical Declaration of Suitability, issued by the Diocesan Ordinary of the locality where they intend to teach class religion. As a prerequisite, it is necessary to be in possession of the Ecclesiastical Declaration of Academic skill .

    The issuing of the DEI presupposes upright doctrine and testimony of Christian life. It is based on moral and religious considerations, criteria whose definition is the responsibility of the diocesan bishop.

    The DEI may be revoked by the diocesan Ordinary when any of the considerations for which it was granted cease to be fulfilled and will not be valid in other dioceses.

  • proposal The diocesan Ordinary (missio canonica), to the Education Administration, of the teacher he/she considers competent and suitable for a specific school. It assumes that he/she is in possession of the DECA and the DEI.

    The proposal will be for each school year, in accordance with art. III of the agreement on teaching and Cultural Affairs.

    The proposal of the Diocesan Ordinary to the Educational Administration is equivalent to the DEI and the missio canonica.

  • It is also necessary to fill in the Declaration document manager in order to process the DECA.

REQUIREMENTS FOR TEACHING AT EDUCATION COMPULSORY SECONDARY EDUCATION, HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA AND TRAINING VOCATIONAL DEGREE MEDIUM.

The following modalities are specified according to the basic degree program of the candidates, by which it will be possible to access the teaching in the area of Religion and Catholic Morals in these stages:

  • Graduates with degrees awarded by Schools Ecclesiastical degrees or Institutes "ad instar Facultatis", mentioned in the Royal Decree on ecclesiastical degrees, and Bachelor's degrees in Theology.

  • Civil graduates who also have a degree in Religious Sciences, awarded by ecclesiastical diploma program in Religious Sciences, awarded by Schools ecclesiastical or Institutes "ad instar Facultatis", or the degree scroll de diploma holder at programs of study Ecclesiastical.
