speechNarratives and identity in contexts of gender violence. Analysis and lines of intervention in Latin American women in Navarra.
Gender violence occupies, right now, an important space in public opinion. The state, public institutions, international organizations, companies, associations and, in short, society itself has placed its interest in the problems arising from gender violence. It would seem to be a recent problem, verbal, physical, psychological, sexual aggressions, etc. towards women, in reality it has existed for centuries. However, there is a kind of black curtain that still hides the causes, the forms or even worse, that minimizes this subject of inequality.
The data of complaints filed for gender violence are many. The victims are many more. The truth is that the experience of mistreatment and male violence personally mark the whole life of a woman. Not to mention the many social consequences of domestic violence. According to data statistics in Navarra about half of the total number of complaints of violence by men against women is concentrated in groups from other countries. An important fact is that the rate of immigration grows about 1% each year. Being a migrant woman is not easy anywhere. But being a migrant and abused woman is a reality shared by some Latin American women in Navarra.
The main goal of this study is to approach this social problem, experienced by migrant women. Their stories provide us with explanations that help us understand gender violence through its protagonists: women and real stories. This thesis seeks to give voice to those who have no voice and, based on the narratives, to analyze the findings. The project itself does not imply a direct social intervention, but rather the collection and data analysis of concrete data obtained through narrative stories of real events. From this analysis it is intended to achieve the objectives and test the hypothesis put forward. It is expected that, with the study of these data, we will be able to better define the possible risk factors, causes and consequences to finally conclude with recommendations that will help prevent or mitigate this terrible reality.
THE STORIES PROVIDE US WITH EXPLANATIONS THAT HELP US TO UNDERSTAND GENDER VIOLENCE THROUGH ITS PROTAGONISTS
