ABOUT US
The research Public discourse research group focuses on the application of linguistics and discourse analysisto the social issues of our time.
We strive for excellence in the development various methodologiesand their intersection to better understand human communicationin its linguistic and multimodal aspects. In particular, we believe in the complementary nature of quantitative and qualitative methodologies to understand and solve the complex problems facing our society.
Researchers atPublic discourseapply their knowledge of various languages and their theoretical expertise across different disciplines (sociolinguistics, cognitive linguistics, corpus linguistics, pragmatics, speech analysis, multimodality, and narrative analysis, etc.) to analyze social, political, professional, and media discourses. This approach allows approach to explore topics as diverse as Arab migration in Navarre, adolescents at risk of social exclusion, the representation of armed conflicts in the media, speech , digital misogyny, and advances in teaching programs, among others.
Our group distinctly open and international in nature. Every year, researchers from different countries visit us for stays of varying lengths. We welcome candidates who wish to conduct their research or postdoctoral research with us through national and international funding calls and grants.
