Why study Theology

Studying at the University of Navarra's Ecclesiastical Schools means studying at an international, modern and prestigious university where Christian inspiration is not only a foundational idea, but also guides all the activities of the academic corporation.

Students live in an atmosphere of coexistence with other students and knowledge, and can participate in interdisciplinary programmes in philosophy, communication, law, canon law, bioethics, computer science, etc.

At School we offer three types of studies:

• Bachelor in Theology (Degree) is aimed at providing students with an organic and complete theological formation, covering the entire content of Catholic doctrine. The course takes place over five years (300 ECTS credit).

• The three specialisations of licentiate degree in Theology (postgraduate) are designed to enable students to study a specific branch of theology in depth and to engage in theological research. These studies take place over two academic years (120 ECTS credit) and include the completion of a minor thesis.  

• Doctorate in Theology prepares students to teach at Schools and ecclesiastical universities, as well as in Higher Institutes of Religious Sciences. It also qualifies students to work as censor and consultant in the different theological subjects. The doctoral dissertation normally takes between two and five years to complete.
