Processes of affective maturation in adults
In Western societies we are increasingly confronted with a reality: adults who are not able to lead their lives in an integrated way, with a healthy balance. When these adults talk to a professional, such as a psychologist, because they are "unmotivated" and do not know "what they can do to feel better", it is not possible to arrive at any clinical diagnosis, except to identify that they have a problem of affective immaturity.
However, research on the processes of affective maturation in adults is practically non-existent. There are informative books, and other concepts used by research, but, in our experience, these contributions are valuable but insufficient to help these people or have not been developed in a way that makes it possible to test them scientifically.
The targets of project are adults who, having the necessary competences to perform their work adequately and to respond regularly to the demands of their social and family environment, show great inconstancy or inconsistency in their motivations and/or have serious difficulties in establishing bonds with other people. Moreover, this is not caused by a mental health problem or external circumstances.
To help people with this difficulty through procedures based on scientific evidence, seeking to provide professionals with psychotherapeutic and psychoeducational assessment and intervention tools for an effective approach.
The specific objectives are:

Generate a theoreticalframework that allows and promotes research into the processes of affective maturation.

To provide assessment and intervention tools on maturation processes that can be applied by psychotherapists (psychologists and psychiatrists) and educators.

Organise spaces for discussion and professional training, which favour the visibility of the problem and the identification of the social and cultural elements that are promoting it.
