In this specific project , the aim is to evaluate the palliative care development in African countries as globally as possible by applying this tool of assessment. Indicators applicable to all contexts will be used, including countries in the very early stages of development palliative care. The level of work will be that of a macro system, considering national units as the unit to be measured.
The dimensions of the development to be monitored will be the participation of society in care, the level of health policies applicable to palliative care, the focused research , the Education in palliative care, the use of appropriate essential medication and the implementation of specialized services integrated in the health system.
