Country rankings are systematically drawn up according to monetary criteria and material comfort. There is no longer any question that there may be other ways of assessing the wealth of nations that take into account alternative and more humane parameters, such as cultural, social, intellectual and spiritual ones.
This article invites us to question this way of assessing the world, and focuses in particular on the desirability of reassessing some of the fundamental contributions that have emerged (and continue to emerge) in Europe.
