Since the beginning of the century, television series have become one of the most refined and complex examples of today's popular culture. Beyond their mass consumption by globalised audiences, their artistic, intellectual and academic interest has not ceased to grow.
And this phenomenon is far from going out of fashion. On the contrary, its production continues to grow, not only in the Anglo-Saxon market, but also in the different European markets (Spain, for example, is betting on the production of its own quality series, thanks to the new brand positioning strategies of Netflix Spain, Movistar Series and HBO Spain).
In parallel to this huge production and consumption of series, the change in the communication paradigm brought about by the spread of the internet and the popularisation of social networks has allowed the creation of an "ecosystem" of blogs, specialised pages and cultural publications that comment, in an exhaustive manner, on the television series being broadcast.
The Online Course on Analysis and Criticism of Television Series is a University of Navarra Degree. It is included in the so-called "Higher Education Courses".
Students who pass with a grade of more than 5 will receive an Academic certificate given by the secretary's office of the School Communication.
Why take this programme?
The main differential element of this course will be its practical aspect based on three aspects:
-
Delivery of 8 online practical classes in which the teacher will present topic and interact with students via the web.
-
The teacher will keep a constant record of the correction of the assignments requested on a weekly basis (this is not a MOOC).
-
Personalised tutorials during the course.
On the other hand, we highlight the university status of the professor who teaches it. In a world (that of critical writing on the Internet) where self-education prevails, it seems a strength to have the endorsement of a prestigious professor, capable of combining the ability to disseminate with university depth.
In addition, the fact that the teacher himself practices the analysis and critique of television series is an added bonus.
