More than just an award, it is a tribute to a way of understanding communication: in the service of truth, of people, and of the values that strengthen a free and caring society.
Luka Brajnović was a Croatian journalist, writer, and poet who settled in Spain after World War II and taught more than thirty generations of journalists at the University of Navarra; he is also the author of guide first guide journalistic ethics written in Spanish.
In his honor, the School of Communication the award Brajnović Communication award in 1997. The award recognizes communication professionals whose staff professional careers have been marked by a steadfast defense of human dignity and the human values of freedom, tolerance, and solidarity. Its purpose is to highlight exemplary careers characterized by a strong moral and ethical commitment in the field of communication—regardless of the individuals’ level of fame—that serve as model communication professionals, students, and society at large.

Each nomination must include a brief profile of candidate, a sample of their work, and a detailed explanation of the merits that make them a suitable recipient of the award. Letters of support or other supplementary materials may be included on a voluntary basis.

Anyone may submit nominations that meet the award criteria. The call for nominations is first circulated among alumni, faculty, and staff of the School.
