Prepared for new pandemics

Prof. Ignacio López-Goñi

Prof. Ignacio López-GoñiA microscopic virus has generated worldwide consequences more serious than any other misfortune or terrorist attack ever imagined. After a brief review of other health crises in history, the author highlights the great scientific progress generated by this pandemic: thousands of articles published, knowledge of the virus and rapid results. Despite this, he does not fail to highlight the complexity of all research and to claim something fundamental for Science: the need to have time to make a calm work , statistical analysis, tests test-error... The cooperation between scientific agents and the knowledge dissemination of Science have been two other good things boosted by the pandemic.

Professor López-Goñi ends by announcing the news we have today about the coronavirus and supporting the One Health strategy as the ideal way to avoid or face new pandemics.
