Postgraduate training Program in Global Palliative Care research
Postgraduate training program in Global Palliative Care research , from ATLANTES Global Palliative Care Observatory (WHO partner center), of one year duration.
This new Postgraduate training Program, unique in the world, aims to train participants in research on the development and promotion of palliative care globally. The first edition of this Fellowship began in 2023 and was initially aimed at professionals working in Ecuador. This second edition will be open to all professionals in Latin America.
During the twelve months of the program, the apprenticeship will be directly supervised by a member of the group researcher at ATLANTES Global Observatory for Palliative Care. Initially, the participant will observe different ongoing research projects, and then take on an increasing share of the responsibilities of one of the projects.
The training will also be expected to plan and execute a small research project that will contribute to the development of palliative care in his/her home country. This project will be implemented in their home country with the supervision of ATLANTES during the year following the completion of the work in Spain. In this way the Fellow's training program, like the whole ATLANTES program, aims at the global development of palliative care.
In total, participants in the training program should spend at least eleven months working at the University of Navarra and one additional month in clinical or research programs at the University of Navarra or in associated programs in Spain or other countries. Also during their stay they should visit some palliative care services in Spain and, if possible, participate in at least one national or international palliative care lecture .
The global palliative care training program is funded by the Colibri Foundation of Ecuador, which shares the commitment to promote health in Latin America.
- Only one Global Palliative Care Research Fellow place is available.
- Those interested in participating in the selection process should send:
a) a complete curriculum vitae
b) a letter of application expressing the motivations to participate in the program.
- Two letters of support or recommendation must be presented, one of them from an institution or work center interested in the candidate acquiring the training provided by the program.

And then...
An ATLANTES committee will pre-select the most suitable candidate from among the applicants. Calls for applications may be declared void.
The pre-selection criteria will be:
a) previous training in Palliative Care
b) proven interest in palliative care in the last years
c) academic profile of the CV (projects, publications, teaching...)
d) Leadership potential in the field of the specialization program as judged by the selection committee .
Short-listed candidates will be called for one or more telematic interviews .
