"To students, I would tell them to be encouraged to deconstruct what they originally wanted to do in their work life."

Sofía Garamendi (COM'16), Key Account Manager at Google

1. What are you working on right now?

Although I studied Journalism, I am dedicated to the world of digital marketing. I am Key Account Manager at Google, helping several of the top advertisers in Spain to get the most out of their media and performance strategies with Google products.

2. What do you like most about your work?

The best thing about working in a technology company is witnessing change and evolution from the inside, and being able to accompany companies in their digital transformation to continue having a positive impact in their field.

3. What do you remember about your training at the School?

How we were encouraged to think, to give our opinion, to differentiate. Being critical contributes a lot as a professional.

4. What has helped you the most in your professional career?

The search for originality in everything I do, strongly encouraged by the Journalism internship, has allowed me to always try to do things in a staff way even in large corporate Structures . And, of course, my start in the professional world with a PIE scholarship , without which I probably wouldn't be where I am now.

5. What committee would you give to a student who is now studying at the School?

They are encouraged to reinvent themselves and deconstruct what they originally wanted to do in their working life. Opening up to opportunities that were not initially of interest to them can lead them to very interesting paths. There are great publicists working in newspapers and great journalists in advertising agencies. Labor "intrusiveness" only enriches companies.
