Quality and sustainability in digital platforms
The CASOS project investigates the management and production models of streaming audiovisual platforms with the goal of improving their competitiveness and social impact by analyzing two fundamental variables: the quality and sustainability of their offer and services.
The originality of the project lies in the fact that the quality of the contents is not analyzed as an independent and desirable goal in itself, but as a factor that makes it possible to achieve the sustainability of the management and business model . The correlation between quality and sustainability is analyzed, establishing an interdependence between them.
The project 's research revolves around three fundamental pillars:
Quality of service and content.
Sustainability of audiovisual production and management policies and processes.
The research of the industry (professionals) and the audiovisual market (audiences).
What are the objectives?
Investigate which quality factors are used by the main streaming platforms and how they affect their sustainability policies.
To analyze which quality and sustainability criteria are valued by users of streaming platforms, and how they are associated with those applied by the industry.
Standardize a content production and management model that integrates the quality indicators that allow compliance with the sustainability criteria discovered, in order to propose a sustainable business model applicable to streaming platforms.
Analyze quality and sustainability from a triple perspective (social, economic and environmental), including values such as equality and diversity and integrating them into a standardized proposal a sustainable management model for streaming operators.
Methodologies
Semi-structured interviews with those responsible for content management and sustainability policies of the main streaming platforms operating in Spain.
questionnaire on quality and sustainability factors to those responsible for sustainability policies in streaming platforms.
Focus group with a sample of young audiences to detect trends and learn about their perception of content quality, sustainability issues, motivations, viewing habits and production values.
survey to a broader and more representative sample of the audience subscribed to the platforms. The survey will address quality perception, sustainability, motivations, viewing habits and production values.
Measurement of the carbon footprint derived from the viewing of streaming platforms. The tool designed for the measurement will have an app format with the goal of raising awareness of the environmental impact of viewing.
