Screening of the documentary "Lions of the Skeleton Coast"

Screening of the documentary "Lions of the Skeleton Coast" to mark the seventh edition of #LabMeCrazy! Science Film Festival. The documentary will be shown in its original version with subtitles.

Synopsis of the documentary:
Lions of the Skeleton Coast tells the extraordinary story of three orphaned lion cubs struggling to survive in one of the most hostile environments on the planet: Namibia's Skeleton Coast. Left to fend for themselves in an arid desert seemingly incompatible with life, the cubs face extreme food shortages and an uncertain future that defies all odds for their species.

Guided by instinct and necessity, young lions embark on an unexpected journey to the Atlantic Ocean, where they discover an unprecedented survival strategy: living along the coast. This surprising adaptation not only allows them to survive, but redefines the known behavior of lions, demonstrating an extraordinary capacity for resilience and learning. Over eight years, renowned researcher conservationist Dr. Philip Stander documents their evolution, closely following their growth, challenges, and triumphs, and establishing a deep and respectful relationship with the animals.

With striking images and a deeply emotional narrative, the documentary explores themes such as extreme survival and adaptation to change. Lions of the Skeleton Coast is an inspiring story of perseverance and evolution, sample these lions not only survived, but rewrote the history of their species in the face of a relentless and changing world.
