WHAT IS IT?
The Spanish Club is an initiative of the Institute of Spanish language and Culture (ILCE) of the School of Philosophy and Letters. This club arose from the idea that language is a fundamentally social and shared act. Thus, from the ILCE, we seek to encourage the use of language beyond the class through conversation sessions or other Cultural Activities Office and leisure in which native and foreign students share experiences, anecdotes and knowledge. This is a free access activity in which we try to create a relaxed atmosphere so that the non-native speaker can put the Spanish language into internship .
GOALS
The Spanish Club is a group led by native Spanish students from diverse backgrounds that organizes different activities to promote the Spanish language and Hispanic culture at the University of Navarra, as well as meeting and connecting students from all backgrounds. We understand that the Spanish language is alive and is not limited to the classroom; that is why we value and encourage all our students and all the students of the University to participate and propose new activities. The goal of the Spanish Club is for international students to improve their communication skill , get to know and become familiar with Spanish culture, integrate into university life with other students -both native and non-native speakers-, and complement their academic training with other recreational activities in Spanish.
WHO CAN BE PART OF IT?
On the one hand, the group is open to any undergraduate or postgraduate program student who knows or is learning Spanish. It is also open to anyone who wants to learn more about the Hispanic culture and meet other Degree, Master's Degree, exchange and university students.
On the other hand, the sessions are led by native students who are interested in Spanish language and culture, are committed, enthusiastic, have good communication skills and are willing to promote new activities to keep this initiative active.
DEVELOPMENT
The Spanish Club has a wide variety of activities, distributed throughout the academic year. The activities carried out during the first semester of the academic year 2024/2025 were "Mesas de Español" (conversation sessions and group dynamics), "Pasapalabra" and "Pantalla española" (projection of movies or chapters of series and cineforum). In past years, we have held "Walk and Talk" activitiesvisit and explanations of different parts of the campus or the city), "Bingo" and "Flamenco" (dance workshops). We will soon publish the program for the next semester.
All events and activities are announced on ILCE's Instagram and through a Whatsapp group , which ILCE teachers share with their students on the first days of class. For more information about the Club we have enabled the email ilcestudentlife@unav.es.
