who-we-are

Letter from the Dean

Luis Montuenga
Welcome to School of Sciences of the University of Navarra,

Since October 1958, when the School de Ciencias began its activity, our aim goal has been to train teachers and researchers with a deep professional sense to carry out rigorous and useful research at the service of people and society in the field of experimental sciences.

On this website you will find information about who we are, our studies, the research we do and our main activities. We pursue excellence in training in Biology, Environmental Sciences, Chemistry and Biochemistry (with a biomedical orientation), with innovative proposals such as the double Degrees in Chemistry-Biochemistry and Biology-Environmental Sciences, the specialisation diplomas, taking advantage of the interdisciplinary scope of our University, and the most recent international diplomas: International Science Program, Environment and Landscapes Program and Science and Business Program.

The teaching our students receive is based on solid and consolidated research, with master's and doctoral programmes in the areas of animal and plant biodiversity and environmental management, biomedical research, applied chemistry and complex systems.

We work so that our offer reaches more and more students from other countries, has more foreign teachers and incorporates bilingualism in teaching. Intense relations with centres and universities in Europe, America and Asia allow students and researchers to carry out stays and exchange programmes in centres of international prestige.

The University is located in Navarra, one of the regions of Europe with the greatest biological diversity and variety of landscapes and ecosystems. The School of Sciences is located in an area of the university campus dedicated especially to experimental and health sciences, where we work closely with the other Schools and research centres. All this allows us to offer an eminently practical training, which is completed with an extensive offer of internships and employment opportunities to promote and materialise the students' professional development .

Sometimes, what is most valuable cannot be reduced to numbers or indicators: the enthusiasm to work better every day, the mutual learning between teachers and students, the passion that can be felt in the classrooms and laboratories, the demanding but friendly working environment, the support and the availability to advance in the personal and professional development , or the ease of communicating, sharing and working together. We are committed to an interdisciplinary environment, in a globalised and international environment, with a marked interest in scientific research and increasingly close and fruitful relations with industry.

At final, now as in the beginning, we want to continue researching in order to know more and serve better.
