Javierada 2026

The Sports Service and the Chaplaincy of the University of Navarra organize a new edition of the Javierada. It is a pilgrimage to Javier, the birthplace of St. Francis Xavier, patron of the Missions, and patron of Navarra. It is organized by the Archbishop of Pamplona and Tudela and thousands of Navarrese and pilgrims from other parts of Spain participate in it every year.

The University organizes a Javierada for the university community, students, professors and employees.

Program

► 15:00 Via Crucis from Sangüesa to Javier.
► 17:00 Celebration of the Eucharist presided by the Archbishop of Pamplona. Esplanade of Javier.


Modalities

► modality A:
On foot from Pamplona (55 km).
Departure: 4:00 AM from Parking Comedores
Pamplona -Sangüesa 47 km (10 hours walking) + Sangüesa Javier, 8 km (1,30 h. walking).

► modality B:
On foot from Izco (28 km).
Bus Departure: 8:30 AM from Parking Comedores
Izco-Sangüesa, 20 km (4 hours walking) + Sangüesa Javier, 8 km (1,30 h. walking).

► modality C:
On foot from Liédena (15 km to Javier).
Bus departure: 11:30 AM to Liédena, from the Comedores parking lot.
Liédena - Javier 15 km (3 hours walking)

► modality :
Mountain biking from Pamplona (62 km to Javier)
Departure at 9:00 a.m. from the university dining hall parking lot. Mixed route of tracks and trails (65 km). Medium-high level. This modality may modality fail case of bad weather (rain or snow). To return by bus, you must register and pay the €15 registration fee. Bicycles can be stored in the bus's luggage compartment (limited number of spaces for mountain bikes).

There will be buses from the campus ( university dining hall parking lot) to transport pilgrims to their starting point, depending on the modality .

• To board the bus, you must show your registration certificate registration the wristband you submission you registered.
• The buses will leave Javier one hour after the end of Holy Mass.

Insurance

► Participants of the Javierada must have their own medical and/or accident insurance (Social Security, Acunsa, Mapfre, etc).

► The registration in the Javierada does not include any insurance subject .

The Javierada is a multitudinous event that gathers a large number of people and vehicles in a small town with limited access. Therefore, it is normal that there will be traffic cuts and delays that may affect the estimated departure times of the buses and even the parking of the buses themselves. If the weather conditions are adverse, these incidents may increase. For these reasons, and also for security and other reasons, the organization of the Javierada UNAV is not manager for route changes, delays and other incidents, and those registered in the Javierada UNAV understand and accept these circumstances, which are beyond the control of the organization of the Javierada UNAV itself,
