Conceptual analysis and framework

The general hypothesis that initially guide the research is that interpersonal relationships in late modernity are characterized by a progressive entry into the realm of technical-rational culture, which is the domain of the "experts", in such a way that emotional life loses its original immediacy and authenticity, leading to a characteristic nostalgia in late-modern subjects: the nostalgia for emotion and authenticity.. We recognize here a trait of our romantic heritage, which does not lack, however, its tragic accompaniment: for this same nostalgia for emotion continues to operate as a new advertising incentive: in the culture of consumption, the media primarily sell "exciting experiences".
This is not the only ambivalence enclosed in late-modern society, nor is it the only paradox derived from the setting up of internship of the original program of sociology, aimed at the rational control of society. For, as already outlined in the characterization "risk society" (Beck), both at the level of and at the level of the "risk society" (Beck), contemporary society, heir to the modern project , is experiencing, alongside an increase B of the techniques of control, an uncontrollable increase in the feeling of risk and insecurity. The risk society, both at the level of staff and collectively, both socially and politically, nationally, internationally or globally.
In any case, for the development of the project it will be necessary that, in addition to the concept of 'emotional culture', to which the peculiar optics of this project is due, it will also be necessary to analyze the concepts of 'emotion', e 'identity'. Insofar as both concepts are used by various disciplines (neurology, psychiatry, Philosophy, psychology, pedagogy, sociology, etc.), in different senses, here are also important challenges for the interdisciplinary work .

In addition, we will try to identify, through the latest discussions on topic, those difficulties that arise when studying such a fundamental and relevant element for human action and identity as emotions.
