Mental health and emotional well-being in college students
The university years are a period of transition and integration of students with the adult world. At this stage, young people face changes, challenges and other stressors that influence their mental health, making them a vulnerable population with respect to their emotional well-being.
Research on topic affirms that the prevalence of mental health problems in this population is high. In addition, with the COVID-19 pandemic there has been a significant increase in the fees of depression and anxiety. These factors have an impact on both staff and academic life of students, making it a topic of current concern.
Therefore, it is considered relevant to carry out a research focused on knowing and addressing the mental health of this population, with the purpose to help them achieve the necessary psychological balance to face, in the best way, the challenges of this stage.
This project of research is part of the University's Strategy 2025 and is aligned with the challenge ICS 2022-2023, which has as goal to study, from an interdisciplinary perspective, psychological well-being in young people and their integration with the adult world.
The ultimate goal of this project is to learn about and address concerns related to the emotional well-being of undergraduate students at the University of Navarra, as well as to provide strategies to help improve their quality of life and mental health.
