The TOEFL iBT Test (Test of English as a Foreign Language internet-Based Test) is a globally recognized test. This test evaluates your ability to understand and use English in an academic environment. It is an essential tool in both academic and professional settings.
The TOEFL iBT tests reading, listening, speaking and writing skills in English through four sections:
READING
It includes 20 questions on two texts, with a time limit of 35 minutes. The texts are college level and cover topics such as science, art and Humanities. Comprehension of main ideas, details, vocabulary in context and the structure of the text are evaluated.
LISTENING
Composed of 28 questions in 36 minutes, this section presents recordings of lectures and debates. Candidates must grasp the main points, the attitude of the speaker and the organization of the content.
SPEAKING
It includes 4 tasks in 16 minutes: two on known topics and two based on readings and audios. Coherence, vocabulary range and accuracy in oral expression are measured. Answers are recorded and evaluated by experts.
WRITING
With two tasks in 29 minutes: an integrated reading and listening task, and a "Writing for Academic Discussion". Clarity, structure and support of the ideas expressed are evaluated.
Each section of the TOEFL iBT test is scored in one scale from 0 to 30and the total score of the four sections may add up to 120.
The TOEFL iBT test has a duration of of 2h (it is recommended to add an extra 30 minutes for review).
