Professor José Manuel Cabrero, appointed vice-president of AITIM, the association of research and Technology of the Woodworking Industries.

The professor will also act as a representative in the Acquis processes, in the subgroups dedicated to structural wood products and derived panels.

Professor José Manuel Cabrero, Full Professor of the department of Construction, Installations and Structures of the School of Architecture and director of the Chair Madera Onesta, has been appointed vice-president of AITIM, the association of research and Technology of the Wood Industries. 

Likewise, the professor will act as AITIM's representative in the Acquis process, in the subgroups dedicated to structural wood products and derived panels, managed by the Ministry of Transport, mobility and diary Urbana.

About José Manuel Cabrero

The architect graduated in 2001 and obtained his doctorate in 2006 (award Extraordinary) from the University of Navarra. He is currently Full Professor and director of department Construction, Facilities and Structures at the same University, as well as being director of the Chair Madera Onesta since 2011. He has developed an independent research line focused on wood structural joints and has been researcher principal in outstanding projects, both national and European.

About AITIM

AITIM is the association of research Technique of the Industries of the Wood created in the year 1962 that is dedicated, mainly, to the technical research and quality control of products related to the wood, from its growth in the forest until its last elaboration.

One of the main activities of AITIM is the AITIM Quality Seals for different wood products in construction (doors, windows, panels, flooring, Structures wood, etc.). It is governed by a committee of Direction, composed by companies of the sector and diverse official Organisms.

AITIM works together with AENOR in the concession of the N Mark of quality in the products of wooden door leaves and kitchen furniture and the CE Marking of boards. It holds the administrative office of committee CTN-56 of Standardization of Wood and Cork.  

AITIM's activities also include the preparation and essay of reports for the study of possible problems arising in relation to wood issues, or participation in wood-related projects.  

AITIM works with accredited laboratories where the tests are performed.

AITIM gives lectures and courses to technicians and companies, generally through the corresponding colleges and associations.

AITIM edits, since its foundation, a magazine of technical information, dedicated to wood in construction, with five issues per year and has edited and published more than 100 books with a B relevance among architects, surveyors and technicians of the wood sector.
