From October 18 to 22, the students of the 3rd year of Degree in design Fashion from School of Architecture made an academic visit to Paris. During their stay, they visited different museums such as the Orangerie Museumthe Museum of Decorative ArtsMuseum of Decorative Arts, the Dior Museum and the Yves Sant Laurent Museum. In addition, they toured various exhibitions and luxury stores that complemented their experience and learning.
Student Ana Ucero tells us what it has been like at visit:
"We visited several museums, such as La Orangerie, where we saw Monet's paintings, where you always feel transported to the gardens he painted. It was interesting to see his choice of colors and the textures he created with his brush. We also visited the Museum of Decorative Arts, where we toured fashion exhibits.
The exhibition showcasing the winners of the skill Mode Nouvelle Générations was very inspiring to me because of the explorations made on the garments. Also, the Mode Bijoux Design exhibition was a great opportunity to see how fashion revolves around cultural events and designs of furniture and other products. The Palais Tokyoand especially the exhibition about designer Stephen Jones, was like walking through the pages of a fashion magazine; the section showcasing his collaborations was like looking at works of art in the form of garments.
My favorite museums were the Dior and Yves Sant Laurent museums, as it was a total immersion experience into the minds of two great designers who transformed the world of fashion, and whose influence is still visible today.
In addition to museums, we visited luxury stores to understand the importance of window displays and how to create experiences that reflect the spirit of the brands. The Ralph Lauren store was one of my favorites, as the window displays and decor perfectly replicated the spirit of the garments, integrating it into the furniture that displayed them.
Through this journey, I have learned about the passion needed to persevere in the fashion world and the importance of being a flexible creative, able to collaborate with others to create new and unique things. I also understood how essential it is to generate experiences that make customers feel like they are on an adventure when visiting the stores.
What I enjoyed most about the trip was the opportunity to explore the references of the past, observe the innovations of the future and begin to reflect on what I can create myself to contribute to a more sustainable future, as well as think about the experimentations that still need to be done."
