- summary of the documentary:
Waders are the world's greatest endurance athletes. They migrate non-stop for up to 9 days without food or water: the longest known migration of any species. They fly thousands of miles along ancient migratory routes, traveling from their feeding grounds in the southern hemisphere to the High Arctic, then back again. But in just 30 years, populations have plummeted. Flyways once teeming with life are falling silent. It is a degree program against time to save them.

In the Americas, Australia, Europe and Asia, scientists are tackling the challenge of wader conservation. For animals that transcend borders, determining why their populations are declining is no easy task. Using cutting-edge science, they hope to decipher their mysterious flyways and save them. Flyways is a captivating film about how waders, through their incredible migrations, bring out the best in humanity and science to try to save them from extinction.
