Every year, on the third Thursday of November, we celebrate World Philosophy Day, a UNESCO initiative to remind us that thinking never goes out of fashion. In a world full of haste, screens and instant opinions, Philosophy invites us to stop, to ask ourselves about what is essential, to look at the world with more awakened eyes.

But... Isn't Philosophy something old, complicated or boring? What's the point of thinking about unanswered questions? And why keep reading Plato or Kant when we have Google?

In this chapter we are joined by Manuel Cruz, professor of Ancient Philosophy at the School of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Navarra, to talk -without technicalities- about what it means to philosophize today, and why young people have a lot to say in this story.

Lessons learned from this episode:

  • The importance of celebrating World Philosophy Day

  • The role of Philosophy in today's digital and fast-paced world.

  • Philosophy as a tool for better and freer thinking

  • The need to ask deep questions in times of superficiality

  • Relationship between Philosophy, democracy and coexistence with differences

  • The value of the classics for understanding contemporary dilemmas

  • Philosophy as a guide in the face of polarization, AI or global conflicts

  • The teaching of Philosophy in Education and its formative function

  • Philosophy and happiness: to live with meaning, even if there are no closed answers.

  • Philosophical dialogue as an antidote to individualism and fragmentation
