The general goal of the program is to provide the student with a training oriented towards quality care, training the professional with the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for advanced nursing care at any stage of the pediatric onco-hematological process.
The specific global objectives include knowledge of the different types of pediatric tumors and their extension, holistic nursing care of the patient and family throughout the process, knowledge of the various treatments and their side effects, including cytostatic pharmacology, immunotherapy, proton therapy, CAR-T therapies, hematopoietic progenitor transplantation, principles and uses of radiotherapy and brachytherapy, routes of cytostatic administration, among others, ensuring safe administration.
The program is aimed at nursing graduates interested in acquiring advanced training in pediatric cancer. The Proton Therapy Unit of the Clínica Universidad de Navarra is a center of international reference letter .
The assessment includes an ECOE ( goal Structured Clinical Examination) with practical scenarios inspired by real pediatric oncology cases. Through clinical stations, technical skills, communication with the patient and family, clinical reasoning and palliative care are assessed. It ends with personalized feedback to consolidate learning.

goal:
To provide students with a solid understanding of the fundamental aspects of pediatric oncology, including the pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment of different types of childhood cancer.
Content:
Introduction to the course and pediatric cancer 2. Pediatric oncologic pathology: Diagnosis, pathophysiology and symptoms.
2. Solid tumors: diagnosis, prognosis.
3. Pediatric hematologic pathology: Diagnosis.
4. subject of chemotherapy and immunotherapy in pediatric oncology.
5. Fundamentals of Radiotherapy and Proton Therapy.
6. Nursing care in Protontherapy.
7. Workshop-Clinical Case.

To develop in students emotional, palliative and communicative support skills to ensure comprehensive care that addresses both the physical, emotional and ethical aspects of pediatric patients and their families.
Contents:
Pediatric palliative care and the role of the nurse 2.
2. Child and adolescent psycho-oncology, family and environment.
3. Nursing care in long survivors: Revaccination, fertility and follow-up.
4. Mature child and legislation. Childhood euthanasia. Current framework .
5. Feeding and nutrition in the pediatric oncologic patient.
6. Rehabilitation and physical exercise in the pediatric oncology patient.
7. Workshop on communication with the patient and family. Emotional competencies in onco-pediatric nursing.
8. Workshop-Clinical Case.

15 hours of theory, 9 hours of work staff.

6-8 stations of 7-10 minutes each, with debriefing at the end (20-30 minutes).

Each station evaluates a specific case study or status in pediatric oncology.

The graduation profile corresponds to a nursing professional able to develop his or her internship in the clinical setting as an expert in pediatric oncology, based on the latest scientific evidence available. The contents of the program will provide the student with the necessary competences to provide high quality nursing care and to know the most innovative treatments in pediatric oncology.
At the end of the course students will be able to:
Acquire a understanding solid knowledge of the fundamental aspects of pediatric oncology, including epidemiology, pathophysiology, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of different types of childhood cancer.
Address complex problems and propose solutions through problem-based learning sessions and case methodology.
To provide oncology patient care in compliance with the highest standards of care. safety and quality standardsby basing your internship on the best possible evidence.
To develop the nursing care process in a manner that is individualized and holistic patients and their families through innovative internship and exceptional human care.
Understand the importance of being part of a multidisciplinary team.
To know the fundamentals of Pediatric Palliative Care.
Provide optimal care pediatric patients and their families with advanced and terminal illnesses through adequate symptom control.
