Letter from the Dean
Welcome to School of Sciences of the University of Navarra,
Since October 1958, when the School de Ciencias began its activity, our goal has been to train teachers and researchers with a deep professional sense to develop a rigorous and useful work research at the service of people and society in the field of experimental, biomedical and environmental sciences.
On this website you will find information about who we are, our studies, the research we do and our main activities. We pursue excellence in training in Biology, Environmental Sciences, Chemistry and Biochemistry (with a biomedical orientation), with innovative proposals such as the double Degrees in Chemistry-Biochemistry and Biology-Environmental Sciences, the specialisation diplomas, taking advantage of the interdisciplinary scope of our University, and the most recent international diplomas: International Science Program, Environment and Landscapes Program and Science and Business Program.
The teaching that our students receive is based on a solid and consolidated research, with programs Master's Degree and doctorate in the areas of animal and plant biodiversity and environmental management , biomedical research , applied Chemistry or complex systems.
We work so that our offer reaches more and more students from other countries, has more foreign teachers and incorporates bilingualism in teaching. Intense relations with centres and universities in Europe, America and Asia allow students and researchers to carry out stays and exchange programmes in centres of international prestige.
The University is located in Navarra, one of the regions of Europe with the greatest biological diversity and variety of landscapes and ecosystems. The School of Sciences is located in an area of the university campus dedicated especially to experimental, health and environmental sciences, where we work closely with the other Schools and centers of research. Our mission statement is to contribute to the solution of the challenges that threaten the Human Being and therefore the professors and researchers of the School develop research projects aimed at promote human and environmental health, in line with the One Health strategy, which states that human, animal and environmental health are three inseparable elements. These same professionals are the ones who constitute the body professor that trains students in the different Degrees.
All this allows us to offer an eminently training internship , which is completed with an extensive internship opportunities and employment opportunities to promote and materialize the professional development of the students.
Sometimes, what is most valuable cannot be reduced to numbers or indicators: the enthusiasm to work better every day, the mutual learning between teachers and students, the passion that can be felt in the classrooms and laboratories, the demanding but friendly atmosphere of work , the support and the availability to advance in development staff and professional, or the ease of communicating, sharing and working together. We are committed to an interdisciplinary environment, in a globalized and international environment, with a marked interest in scientific research and increasingly close and fruitful relations with industry.
At final, now as in the beginning, we want to continue researching to learn more and serve better.
