From September 15 to 25, students of the Master's Degree in Architecture, Master's Degree in design and Environmental management of Buildings and Master's Degree in Strategy and Real Estate Business highlighted the qualities of wood construction.
Our student María Elena Pascual, from the Double Master's Degree in Architecture and Sustainability (MAS), summarizes the experience gathered during the intensive cycle:
"This workshop is held every year with different themes within the study of wooden buildings. Specifically, this 25-26 course, we have had to analyze from a technical, design and design perspective several high-rise buildings made with this material.
The workshops were led by one of the professors of the School of Architecture, José Manuel Cabrero, and we were fortunate to hear valuable testimonies and advice from experts in wood construction such as Enrique Nuere, Rothoblaas, AITIM or Woodea. In addition, we have been able to transfer this knowledge in the work in group or we will be able to apply it, in the future, in our PFC or in the professional internship . Another goal when designing this workshop was to promote interaction among the students, since we come from different universities. This was greatly enhanced by the intensity of the workshop with long hours of group work , coffee breaks and outdoor meals on campus.
The closing of this workshop took place with the AMAD awards, where we were able to see real projects built in wood, talk with their authors at a cocktail and thus get a little closer to the professional internship .
In the next few days, we will have to present the work of these two weeks to teachers on an organized trip to Pamplona, which will further reinforce the connections created in the last few weeks.
It has been an intense and very enriching experience! I'm taking away a huge learning experience about wood construction that I'm looking forward to applying in the future."
