3rd year students of design Product design flat-pack furniture with Formica materials.

Backless seats designed by students are exhibited at the School.

The 3rd year students of design of the accredited specialization in Product, have designed seats without backrests with materials provided by Formica thanks to a partnership agreement with the School of Architecture. They are on display at entrance hall of the School.

Flat-pack furniture is a form of furniture that requires assembly by the customer after purchase of the product. Some of its advantages are its affordable prices and easy storage, although it is usually associated with poorer quality and leave durability due to the materials used, as well as complex assembly and a simple and limited design .

With this exercise, which is carried out at subject of laboratory of Creation II, the aim is for students to challenge these associations by development of a seat without a backrest. The material they use is compact HPL (High Pressure Laminate) boards from Formica.
